Born and raised in Metro Detroit MI, Jerry grew up curious about the beauty of the world around him. Early on, he was design oriented . This is because, ever since he was a child, Jerry Bernard always had a camera in his hand. He built his own dark room and learned to develop film and prints.  John entered mail order art school where he majored in photography. After just one semester, John left art school to apprentice with self as a freelancer. "I felt that photo school was teaching me traditional methods, which I fell are important, but I wanted to live outside the box",  "If I were to do it again, I might have studied more art and design However, Jerry's bold images quickly gained him notoriety as his unique style was breathtaking, and easily recognizable as his.

Free to chase other endeavors. Jerry has  pursued by many major magazines, to be a stock photographer. Jerry has always chosen to remain an independent photographer. His studio is designed to accommodate and endeavor. "I love creating vibrant imagery for Wedding commercial shoot. But I also like spending time creating  memorable portrait. I really have no preference. Every shoot is a unique challenge, with unique possibilities."
